Buyers getting bolder as market shifts in their favor
Noting the “new extremes” that home builders and real estate agents are resorting to move inventory in the current market, the Wall Street Journal recently drew up on the expertise of three Keller Williams sources.
Chris Heller, our associate in San Diego, Calif. notes that his clients are, on average, scoring concessions totaling as much as $80,000 on homes in the $700,000 price range. "Buyers are asking for the moon, and they're often getting it," he said.
And according to Gene Rivers, associate in Tallahassee, Fla., some builders are increasingly resorting to price cuts to stay in business.
But as Dianna Kokozska, Vice President of the MAPS Institute points out, not every market is struggling. She says that homes in hot markets such as Austin still receive multiple offers, making incentives unnecessary.
