THE PROFILE OF A KELLER WILLIAMS TEAM LEADER:
The Team Leader position in the KW Model is a demanding position. They are in effect the CEO of the Market Center – a people-focused, synergistic, inspirational leader. They must know the real estate sales business and have done it at a high level (at least 18 to 24 transactions a year). In addition, they must be a student of the game, having read The Millionaire Real Estate Agent and attended the KWU courses that are built on the book. If they are not yet with Keller Williams you will know they are learning-based by the number of training programs they have attended. They must understand and live the KW Culture – with high ethics, personal integrity and a high regard for others.
They must be a natural leader, influencer and teacher. Behaviorally, they are a high “D" and high “I" – they get things done and they do it with people finesse. They have a low “S" which means they are responsive and quick on their feet. And, they have a low to mid “C" which means they are independent in their actions, but follow agreed upon standards. In other words, on a 10-point scale they will be at a 7 or 8 on the “D" an 8 or 9 on the “I", a 1 or 2 on the “S" and a 3 or 4 on the “C". You will recognize this person even before they take a DISC test. You will feel their positive energy and their great ability to get along with people. They will be the person others ask to lead a group discussion or be selected as the leader. They are great at leading a meeting and at making presentations.
While they are personally a high-achiever, they get their greatest reward from helping others succeed. They love to teach and motivate. They are also team builders and capable of getting everyone to work well together toward a common goal. When they find a cause they believe in, they are passionate and persevering at making it a reality. They understand and exemplify “tough-love" – they are tough-minded about standards and caring about others.
They are persuasive – even charismatic. They love to influence others and win them over. They have the capacity to be master recruiters – in group settings and with individuals. They are persevering, but not pushy. They have a consultative style which makes the other person feel valued and cared about. In the end, they help people understand why joining Keller Williams will be the best way for them to achieve what they want.
They have high financial goals, but understand they will have to do the work and accomplish the results that will lead to high compensation. They understand that building a business for someone else will put them in a position to have their own equity position in the future. They understand that opportunity precedes income. They are the kind of person for whom, in the end, “it’s not about the money" – it’s about being the best they can be and fulfilling their purpose in life.
