I’ve lived in Decatur since 1987. My husband, David, and I are lucky to be the parents of three great children who attended the City Schools of Decatur, from elementary through high school. My daughters are now in college, and my son is a junior at Decatur High. I actively volunteered every year in the schools while they were students and currently manage communications for the high school band program.
I graduated from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville with a BA and moved to Decatur after a post-college venture in Washington, DC.
When I’m not working I run (well, jog) and am proud to have trained for and completed, with my soccer-playing daughter, my first half marathon in 2012. When I can, I like to indulge my creative side by sewing and quilting and cooking. I love to read, mostly Southern writers, and especially love to browse cookbooks and plan dinner parties—and any other kind of party actually.
My family has embraced the back to the land movement, and we are raising chickens in our Winnona Park backyard. Our “girls” produce the most delicious eggs, in white, brown, and blue, which my son likes to scramble for a snack. When we get the opportunity, we like to head to the mountains of western North Carolina where the air is crisp and clear.
