For Chris Reed of Keller Williams Classic Properties, a talent for real estate came naturally. He grew up watching his mother be successful in the business, and when he finished school, he went to work for a large, regional homebuilder in Columbus, Ohio.

Architecture, financing, design - all aspects of the home industry appealed to Reed, but none was more important than the idea of putting people into the houses that would become their homes. The people factor was the force behind his transition from working for a builder to working for himself. He and his former wife had a daughter, and he knew working in real estate would give him the flexibility to be an accessible dad while still helping homeseekers make their dreams come true.

Chris Reed was initially licensed in 1989, and re-licensed in 2007 when he entered the market for good. “I’ve been hitting it hard since then,” he says. His numbers are huge. He consistently ranks within the top one percent of agents in the Columbus market.*
His customer satisfaction ratings are even higher than his sales figures. He holds several five star ratings on Zillow, and is very popular with his peers in social media circles.

He says authentic, caring customer service is the key to success in this business. “When I first meet people, I tell them my goal is to make sure they are so absolutely thrilled with my service that they want to refer me to their family and friends,” he says. “I take time to listen, and I connect with them on an emotional level.” Reed also believes in aggressive marketing. He uses every available outlet to tell people about his services, including local radio. “I funnel money back into the business, because I learned a long time ago that it takes money to make money,” he says. “I am constantly looking for new ways to promote my business.”

While some agents prefer to specialize in specific segments within a large metropolitan market, Reed tries not to shut out any buyer or seller. “I go out of my way to not make myself a specialist in any one area” he says. He holds listings in many of the 88 counties within the State of Ohio, working on everything from short sales to luxury homes. “We are full service, and whatever you need, we’ll take care of you,” he says.

Reed works with several buyer agents and is always looking for
additional talented individuals. He also works with several administrative professionals who work diligently at applying the team’s brand and special flair to every listing on every website where they may appear. The administrative staff also handles the million details that go along with each listing, from setting up photos to staging to placing signs in yards. Their expertise and attention to detail allow Reed to focus on the part of real estate he truly loves - working with the clients. “One thing I’ve learned is that I do lots of things ok, and a few things really, really well,” he says. “I want to do the things I do well all the time. The things I do ok - I’d rather have someone else to do that for me.”

That leaves him free to help buyers and sellers find what they need, and feel good about doing it. He considers himself fortunate to be able to help others while doing something he enjoys so much. “I love interacting with people and seeing them get excited about the process,” he says. “I really enjoy helping people achieve the American dream, and helping them get from where they have to be to where they want to be.
