My Bio

'Your "Quality of Life" Realtor'SM

Kaaren Oldfield has been a lifelong resident of the Chicago area and has resided in Glen Ellyn for the past 33 years.

When Kaaren was already an experienced public relations, sales and marketing professional she decided to focus those skills on her dream of helping people by starting her real estate business. Her extensive professional background brings value to her clients as she markets and sells real estate in DuPage and Kane Counties and in the Chicago metropolitan area.

Kaaren's involvement in the community has led to a unique knowledge and appreciation for the "quality of life" her clients seek. She believes Chicago and its suburbs offer the best "quality of life" available anywhere. That was affirmed recently when "MONEY MAGAZINE" named Glen Ellyn, Illinois as one of the "100 Best Places to Live in the U.S.A."

Kaaren has been the campaign consultant and strategist for 12 successful open space initiatives in DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will Counties. The winning referenda resulted in raising close to a billion dollars to purchase and protect over 25,000 acres of forest preserve land in those counties.

Kaaren has made a career of improving the "quality of life" of the people around her and in her community. She knows that open space preservation benefits everyone. It creates more value in homes and communities. Homes surrounded by land are more aesthetically pleasing. Open space helps to keep air and water clean. It allows for passive and active recreation and better physical and mental health for all.

These are attributes that people are looking for when they invest in a place to live and work. Preserving open space also has the benefit of keeping taxes low and "quality of life" high. Simply stated, it is "The Ultimate Tax Cap".

Oldfield has worked in television and radio and is a former editor of the WHEATON LEADER newspaper. She has worked in healthcare marketing at LaGrange Memorial Health Systems, Inc. in Hinsdale, IL and is the past president of her own company, Issue Shapers, Inc., in Oak Brook, IL where she provided full-service marketing
communications to numerous well-know clients.

She is a former board member of the Excellence in Public Service Illinois Lincoln Series and was chosen as an Lincoln Fellow in 1996. She is a past board member of the BR Ryall YMCA, and Friends of Family Selter.

She is a 32 year member of the Conservation Foundation, a member of the Avisory Board and former board member.

She is currently serving a two-year term as president of the Glen Ellyn Woman's Club.

In 1998 she received The Conservation Foundation's "Open Space Award" for managing a campaign to pass a $75 million referendum, the largest to date for the citizens of DuPage County.

Kaaren Oldfield has received other recognition for service and professionalism including being named "YWCA Woman of the Year" in Government and Civic Affairs in 2001. The award was sponsered by the DuPage Business Ledger and the National Association of Woman Business Leaders, DuPage Chapter.

In 2008 she was recognized for "Outstanding Contributions to the Fox Valley Park District" as campaign consultant for the $44.8 milion dollar Open Space, Park and Recreation Investment Referendum. The Park District later received a national Gold award.

Besides consulting on forest preserve initiatives, Kaaren has run numerous campaigns for political candidates. She was a candidate for state representative and DuPage County Forest Preserve Commissioner.

She is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago and holds a Master's Degree in Organizational Behavior from National Louis University. She was a scholarship recipient of the Woman's Advertising Club of Chicago. She is a graduate of the Medill Advanced Advertising School at Northwestern University.

Kaaren and her husband Larry an attorney in Oak Brook, Il have two daughters and two grandchildren.
