I’m a Southern gal by choice! More than 16 years ago I moved to Louisiana to teach under-resourced children in the public school system as part of AmeriCorps. The experience was challenging to be sure, but the rewards were never ending. Perhaps the greatest lesson I learned was that you can do anything you set your mind to as long as you aren’t afraid of a hard work!
Although I never thought I’d end up staying in the South, fate stepped in and I met a wonderful Southern Guy who happened to be a member of The Golden Band from Tigerland at the time. We married a few years later, have a handsome, intelligent son, and are looking forward to many years of happiness down on the bayou.
After moving to Baton Rouge, I continued my teaching career. My background had been in business prior to my work in the classroom though and, when the time was right, I decided to become a real estate agent.
Frankly, being a real estate agent isn’t all that different from my job as a middle school math teacher. There are challenges dealing with numbers daily. I am constantly on the go and, as you might imagine, the experience of helping someone find and secure their dream home or selling their home when they need to is very rewarding.
I love my career, and I love meeting and helping different people because of it.
